Results Germany 3 v India 3, Belgium 0 v Korea 2 and GB 0 v Australia 0

Germany 3 India 3 opening match. A thrilling encounter of East meets West. SV Sunnil used his lightning pace to enthral the crowd in this opening match. India lead 3-1 only to concede a late penalty stroke which Germany converted high to the keepers right to draw the match 3 all.

Belgium 0 Korea 2. Korea scored a short corner against the run of play to take the early lead. They then doubled that score from a long corner when Jung simply walked into the D and smashed the ball past the keeper unopposed. Belgium failed to convert even 1 of 9 short corners.

GB 0 Australia 0. A surprising result where many chances were made and squandered.Australian Head Coach Graham Reid said: “We created a lot of opportunities, we had a lot of corners that we unfortunately didn’t put away. It was a mix perhaps of execution issues, but also perhaps that Great Britain defended very well and we just have to work a little bit harder on different variations. A lot of today was getting used to the conditions here, and we did play very nicely.
