Sout Korea downed Canada after 3 first half goals. The Canadians fought back in the second half but never looked likely to break the Koran outfit. Althouh Korea were missing several key players through injury, they still had enough quality to see them through.
South Africa suffered a surprise defeat at the hands of the Chinese. China came out firing and scored twice in the first 10 minutes. The South Africans never recovered. After the game, the Chinese coach said he was very happy with the result. The S African Coach Fabian Gregory was very unhappy with the result and told his players at half time they could confirm or lose their place in the World Cup squad on the basis of the day's performance. They lifted in the second half but still could not find a single goal for the match.
