The Azlan Shah Cup is Asias premier annual mens hockey tournament. It is currently held in Ipoh, Malaysia during the first half of each year.

The teams are by invitation and typically include several of the world power-houses of hockey. Besides the host nation Malaysia, teams generally include Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan and South Korea. Holland, Belgium and Egypt together with Argentina have also been represented during previous campaigns.
GB played Japan today in an entertaining game that was fast and skilful. The Japan men defended for large pats of the game, which is normal the n facing a higher ranked opponent. Still, Japan managed to convert 3 times with their fast paced forwards which created good chances. Gb were always the likely winners but Japan went all out as they had nothing to lose.
